If you hit snooze every morning, you're not lazy. You're normal.
Your alarm goes off, you hit snooze, and then you hit it again. In one study, 69% of adults said they snooze or set multiple alarms at least sometimes.3 Your alarm clock was designed to be loud, not to work with your body.
By the numbers
Mornings are a struggle for millions of people.
of 3 million+ tracked mornings ended with the snooze button (Mass General Brigham study).2
of people in that study snoozed on more than 80% of mornings, about 20 minutes a day.2
bigger morning blood-pressure surge when people were jolted awake by an alarm after short sleep, compared with waking naturally (small University of Virginia study).4
Built for heavy sleepers & snoozers
Sound familiar?
- You have 3+ alarms set and still sleep through some of them.
- You hit snooze on autopilot and don't remember doing it.
- You wake up groggy and foggy for the first hour of your day.
- Your partner hates your alarm more than you do.
- Your bedroom is cold, so getting out from under the covers feels impossible.
MorningHater may help if…
you're a healthy adult who sleeps deeply, snoozes a lot, or dreads cold mornings, and you want a gentler wake-up than a blaring sound.
It's not a fix for…
sleep disorders like sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or insomnia. If you regularly sleep through loud alarms or feel exhausted after a full night's sleep, please talk to a doctor. That can be a sign of something a mattress pad can't fix.
The science
Why waking up to warmth makes sense
Alarms yank you out of deep sleep
Being woken suddenly from deep (slow-wave) sleep is linked to worse sleep inertia, the groggy, foggy feeling after waking. It usually fades in 15–30 minutes, but it can last longer if you're short on sleep.5 A sudden loud alarm also triggers your body's stress response.4
Your body warms up naturally before waking
Your core body temperature follows a daily rhythm. It's lowest in the early morning, then starts rising before you naturally wake up. That rising temperature is one of your body's built-in "time to get up" signals.6
Warmth makes sleep lighter
Studies show that a warmer sleep environment reduces deep sleep and increases wakefulness.6 MorningHater uses that on purpose: a gentle warm-up before your alarm can ease you toward lighter sleep, so the alarm is less of a shock.
Being honest: the research above is about how body temperature and sleep work in general. MorningHater itself hasn't been clinically studied yet. We'll be testing prototypes with real heavy sleepers and will share the results, good or bad.

MorningHater works alongside your normal alarm. Keep your alarm set as a backup.
How it works
Three steps. Zero fumbling for the snooze button.
Set your wake time
Pick a time in the MorningHater app, or ask Alexa. Each side of the bed has its own schedule.
Your bed warms up first
About 20 minutes before your alarm, your side of the pad slowly warms up.
Get up easier
By the time your alarm rings, you're already warm and less groggy. It shuts off automatically.
Patent-pending 2-piece design
Wash the cover. Leave the wires on the bed.
With most heated mattress pads, you have to unplug and wash the whole thing, wires included. MorningHater comes in two pieces, so cleaning is as easy as changing a fitted sheet.
- Piece A: soft bamboo top cover. Breathable, waterproof-backed, and machine-washable. There are no wires inside it.
- Piece B: heated base pad. It stays strapped to your mattress, so it doesn't bunch up or slide.
- No thick padding trapping the heat. Warmth reaches you instead of getting stuck in thick filling.
Features
Built for heavy sleepers and the people who share their bed.
Warm wake-up alarm
Scheduled pre-wake warming that slowly ramps up before your alarm.
Dual-zone control
Separate heat and schedule for each side. Your partner can sleep in.
App + Alexa
Control it from your phone, by voice, or with the bedside remote.
Washable cover
Just pull off the bamboo top cover and toss it in the wash.
Safety Cap on by default
It ships locked at a low heat level. Higher heat requires adult confirmation.
Auto shut-off
A built-in timer and overheat protection mean it never runs all day.
Safety first
We designed safety in from day one.
A heated product in your bed has to be safe. Here's how MorningHater is designed:
Safety Cap, on by default
Out of the box, the pad is locked to a low heat level. To unlock higher heat, an adult has to read a warning and confirm in the app or on the remote. You can turn the Safety Cap back on anytime.
Multiple layers of protection
It uses self-limiting heating wire, temperature sensors, an independent thermal cutoff, and an automatic shut-off timer, so it doesn't rely on software alone.
Certified before it ships
We will not ship MorningHater until it has been tested and certified to the U.S. electric bedding safety standard (UL 964) by a nationally recognized testing lab.
Early Bird

Our mission
Make getting out of bed the easiest part of your day.
MorningHater started with one founder in Massachusetts who has fought his alarm clock for years. Warmth is one of the strongest signals your body has, so we built a product that uses it to wake you up gently.
We're a small, independent startup, and we'll share our progress openly as we build.

FAQ
Questions
When does MorningHater launch?
We're in the prototyping and manufacturing stage now. Waitlist members will hear first when Early Bird orders open. We won't ship until safety certification is complete.
Does joining the waitlist cost anything?
No. It's free, and you're not committing to buy. You'll just get first access to the Early Bird price.
Will it get warm enough?
That's the #1 complaint about cheap heated pads, and we designed around it. Thick filling on many pads traps the heat before it reaches you. Our thin bamboo cover lets the warmth come through.
How do I wash it?
Pull off the bamboo top cover (Piece A) and machine wash it. The heated base (Piece B) stays on your mattress and only needs spot cleaning.
Can my partner and I use different settings?
Yes. Each side has its own heat level and wake schedule.
Is it safe for kids?
MorningHater is designed for adults only and should not be used with infants or young children. It ships with the Safety Cap on by default for extra peace of mind, and you can turn it back on anytime.
What sizes will be available?
We plan to offer Full, Queen, and King.
